The Impossible Game Review

The Impossible Game

Introduction

If your in the mood for a game where you have to go over and over again because you keep dying, or your that good at games. Then The Impossible Game is the game for you. Each level contains a different set of obstacles that can either kill you or trap you until the screen passes and forces you to restart the level. Originally released in 2011 the game has changed and updated to improve users liking. Released on all platforms including Amazon Appstore, The Impossible Game has lead many players insane on trying to complete the first level.

SinglePlayer (7/10)

The game is controlled by the player with the simple jump button. Jump over each obstacle and you can proceed further in the level. Each platform for this game has a different button set up for this action but may also have different buttons for different actions if the creator wanted this to happen.
As the level progresses the music becomes more in sync with the game, each main 'pulse' releases another obstacle to avoid. meaning if you listen to the music whilst playing you can predict when something will appear. It can get annoying at times because you can get to certain part of the level and continuously die and in turn give up. The game has a practice mode where you can counter this by placing a flag at any point of the game and practice that part onward, but when you have finished practicing you get reset to the start again.

The main problem with The Impossible Game is the difficulty of the game. Yes the game is call 'Impossible', but that doesn't mean the game has be to so no one can complete the game with out going through one or two phones, or computers before finishing the first level and then having to do the same thing but to a different soundtrack and a new level setup.

MultiPlayer

Doesn't have a multiplayer.

Graphic Quality (7/10)

The creator of the game has stayed with simple graphics, squares and triangles. This is effective because the player doesn't want to much taking up the screen so they can focus on the main objective, but also because it doesn't take up to much memory to run the game allowing it to be as smooth as possible.

Every part of the game is a shape. Square or a triangle. Meaning you only have to look out for the triangle or levitating square that might be around in the path to finishing the level, each easily recognizable so you can't be fool into jumping onto the block rather then over the block.

Sound Quality (8/10)

Each level, total of seven, has their own soundtrack. Each representing a different track for the player to overcome to reach the next. As the music progresses the level will either speed up or slow down with the music causing the player to adjust quickly to succeed. Also as the music progresses the level generally gets harder meaning not a lot of people have heard the first soundtrack as it is most likely the hardest.

Although the soundtrack can help as it for the level, it can get rather distracting when you continuously die over and over again, the music restarts as well. Meaning you would have to listen to the same part of the song over 20 times before getting to a new part. The only way to get around this is to put headphones in, but don't wear the headphones, or simply turning the volume down.

Overall Impression (7/10)

So if a game where you die not stop doing the same thing over and over again is you thing then The Impossible Game is the game for you, at only 69p on iTunes and other various stores for your liking. You just have to keep in mind the game isn't built for graphical quality and only the thrill of completely a level is what you are after.

Just hope you have the patience to redo the same level over and over again until you finish it and thinking to your self that you'll never do that again. Until you start the next level.

Super Mario Sunshine Game Review

Super Mario Sunshine

Introduction

Its time for the plumber to do the dirty work, again. This time its Mario vs Shadow Mario in a race to save Princess Peach and Island Delfino from complete darkness. Shadow Mario, aka Bowser jr, steals the princess whilst leaving paint like goop behind which is stopping light  spreading completely causing a complete shadow fall over Delfino. Released in 2002 Nintendo continue a well known franchise and introduce a tool which Mario can use to help complete the goal.

SinglePlayer (7/10)

Released on the Gamecube, Super Mario Sunshine used all of the buttons that are usable, but not all of them are needed on a level bases. There's jump, dive, movement, spray and change tool. Simple and quick to learn. The game it self is easy to learn, but can get a little frustrating every so often.
Each area of the game are split into little sections which contain 8 missions that then complete that area. Each area containing at least one similar mission in all areas, beating Shadow Mario. Once all Shadow Marios are defeated the last location is opened where you then save the Princess.
Over the game the textures are simple, but fit for Mario and help create a feel for the player to enjoy the game along with the music that plays along as you play. Along with each level which have their own problems come their own enemies. Most of which are programmed to a specific path, but the ones that are not can ever follow, avoid and/or attack whilst in a stuck spot.

Multiplayer

Being a Gamecube game there is no multiplayer built in.

Graphic Quality (8/10)

A game which was released in 2002 in depending on its graphical side as well and its gameplay side. The graphical side to Super Mario Sunshine helps keep a calm mood for the player. Rarely do you see a graphical fault with Nintendo as they spend a lot of money making sure the game has as little faults as it can.

Sound Quality (9/10)

Mario style of music is always calm and friendly, allowing the player to enjoy the game. Each area has its own music to fit the theme, but also changes depending if the player is in danger or not. This allows the player to play the game whilst transferring from one area to another and leaving a themed music for another in succession.

Overall Impression (8/10)

A game worth playing is a game worth buying, no matter the age. Super Mario Sunshine is one of those games. Nothing can push this game pass its sell by date because of its uniqueness as well as its simple game style. The price for Super Mario Sunshine is still a well sold game and sells at £16 on average. If you have a Gamecube still or a Wii then Super Mario Sunshine is worth getting to enjoy an old game that still satisfies players.

Binding of Isaac Game Review

Binding of Isaac

Introduction

Imagine a game where the map randomised every time you started again. Where each room had a different item or different enemies. Binding of Isaac does exactly that, no two times will the game be exactly the same. Released on the 21st of September 2011, Binding of Isaac brought a whole new game style which people had to adapt to just to survive each floor which could change the outcome with every turn.

SinglePlayer (8/10)

With only one objective Binding of Isaac is a simple but complex game, Defeat Mom. Through out the game, you are fighting to survive each floor at a time, starting from floor one to the final floor which contains Mom. Each time getting progressively harder, forcing the player to change their tactic in order to survive.
Each floor the AI of enemies adapt to trap the player in order to triumph over the player, or to trick them into resetting the room by causing an explosion that pushes the player out of the room, meaning they have to reenter and redo the room all over again. The bosses have a different AI compared to standard enemies that allow them to learn the player faster, and to guess where the player is going to head before they do.
Controlling the character is as simple and WASD and the arrow keys, WASD controls the movement of the character and the arrows keys to shoot either tears, or any other weapon you pick up during the game. Another key feature to Binding of Isaac is its challenges it hold for when you finish the game multiple times, each challenge holds a different problem for the player to over come, for example one hit and your dead, but you have nine lives. Or you have no map to use so you have to play each floor blind.

Graphical Quality (7/10)

Binding of Isaac has cleverly kept to basic graphics which doesn't put the player off as they have to concentrate. Each character has a different size, which means each character has to have a different hit box, other wise taken down enemies would be rather tricky. With a basic graphical design comes basic memory needed to run the game, only the performance to hold a randomiseor to produce each floor takes the time to load.

Sound Quality (4/10)

Sound isn't a big need for binding of Isaac as your more paying attention to surroundings then you are on anything else. The sound produced by the game though are simple and slightly off putting for when your hit, or if you hit a wall or enemies as it is the same sound over and over again.

Overall Impression (6/10)

If you think you can handle being focused on one thing for more than half an hour just to get beaten by Mom unless you have collected a good amount of items to beat Mom. A game at the price of £3.99 is worth getting, whether or not you get annoyed by the slightest, but be warned you may find yourself stuck playing just to win.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 game review

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Introduction

Tekken Tag Tournament 2, or TTT2, is a 360ยบ fighting game. You have control of one or two characters depending on how you want to fight against another player or the AI. TTT2 is the 8th main game released by Namco under the name Tekken. TTT2 was released in Japan in September 14th 2011 on the Arcade machines, then later released on consoles in 2012 September the 11th.

SinglePlayer (7/10)

TTT2 holds a variety of game modes that give the users a chance to learn how to play the game if they haven't played before or in a while. There is also a campaign like game mode that allows users to learn the back story of each character or just to warm up which is known as Arcade mode. Another game mode that can be accessed alone is called survival, this is where the user can choice one or two characters and take down as many AI's as they can with a limited amount of health, whilst winning a round gives back a little health at a time.
The controls for Tekken are as simple as the four buttons on the controller; X, Circle, Square and triangle, or if your on Xbox; A, B, Y, X. You also use the directional pad to change the combination your pulling off. The controller can also be configured so the user can use different buttons depending on their liking. The game can also be changed on difficulty depending on how well you play, it starts from Easy and ends at Ultra hard, each having their own perks.
In SinglePlayer, when your facing the AI it learns how you play causing the user to change their play style in order to succeed in their game, it also helps the user prepare for online play. The AI learns at different rates depending on the difficulty and also if you use the same character more often than others.
The UI, User interface, is pretty simple as all it contains is the Time, how many rounds you need to win and the health remaining of the characters. Making it simple and less distracting for players.
One of the issues with single player is the repetition of the gameplay, the only way to avoid the repetition is by changing up characters every so often, but that leads to the process of learning a new character all over again which can put people of playing new characters.

MultiPlayer (6/10)

Online there is only one game mode which is just simple vs mode, but there are two ways of getting to it. Ranked match which is where you enter practice mode until the servers has found a suitable match for you to fight against. Or player match where you go against anyone and everyone no matter the rank you are.
Trying to enter an online battle can be easy, depending on the time you are playing. It is easier to find a battle when a majority of players are on, which is normally after 22:00 BST. To access online all you have to do is click 'Online mode'.
Another cool aspect to TTT2 which doesn't have to do with online, but does online, is the character customisation. The user is given almost full control on how their favorite character looks. They can choose from different head attachments all the way to adding weapons which can be used during battle.
Online play has a massive problem, mainly because your against nearly everyone, with professional players or players that refuse to lose. When professional players use new characters online, even if they don't know them that well, they tend to throw everything at players no matter their skill level. Also people who don't like to lose are often picking fast and spam-able characters that don't allow players to retaliate.

Graphical Quality (8/10)

Tekken has started back from the arcade machines so the graphics for the first few games were the best, but as the years and games have gone by the graphics have improved to the point where in 2011 it couldn't get any better. Through out the game, you don't stumble across any misplaced textures, or any other mishaps that might ruin the game. Although Tekken is a fighting game where graphics aren't a real problem, but sometimes the characters look like they have been placed on a greenscreen leaving a outline around them which sticks out.

Sound Quality (7/10)

For a fighting game, sound isn't the biggest thing to look out for, but when it comes to Tekken the sound is precise to the mini second. Also each character has their own audio cues when entering or exiting the screen, and also audio for getting hit. One of the biggest issues with the sound for Tekken is the repetition when in game, either you'll get hit or your opponent gets hit and it is the same audio no matter what attack is done.

Overall Impression (7/10)

Overall Tekken is a quick and simple game to get the hang of, as long as you want to spend most of your online time against someone that won't give you a chance, or getting kicked by the final boss which is roughly the same. The graphics for the game are amazing, if you don't have a sharp eye for faults and the same for the sound. For a game only worth £15.99 for download it is worth the money if you want to release stress out on AI after a long stressful game of Call Of Duty.
